Astrid trained as a biologist at Mexico’s National University and has been leading natural history expeditions throughout Mexico since 1991. For years, she has introduced our guests to her country’s most remarkable wildlife and wild places; from the monarch butterfly sanctuaries of central Mexico, to sea turtle nesting sites in the south and the humpback whales of Banderas Bay. Her knowledge and passion as a naturalist are unsurpassed, and her warmth and good nature make her one or our most popular Expedition Leaders. When she’s not working in the field she is actively involved in humpback whale conservation and research in her home city of Puerto Vallarta.
Upcoming Adventures with Astrid:

Praise from Natural Habitat travelers:
"Astrid was outstanding. Both of our guides were absolutely lovely people that I would feel privileged to consider friends. And - on top of it - Astrid has extensive background scientific knowledge. She was simply unbeatable."
"Astrid is one of the very best guides I have ever had in over 10 years of out-of-the-US-traveling. She was just plain fun to be around! She had a great passion for her work and the whales and butterflies and was eager to share her knowledge."
"Astrid was amazing in all aspects of leading a trip. She was kind, friendly, direct, with excellent communication and clear direction. She also made excellent decisions throughout the trip and helped keep everyone smiling through extraordinary circumstances. I would travel with her again ANYTIME!"
