Isabel Sousa2026
Isabel was born and raised in Braga in northern Portugal, where her parents encouraged her curiosity about the outdoors, art and history. Exploring Portugal’s countryside and historic landscapes from an early age helped shape her appreciation for the country’s natural and cultural heritage. Over time, the Atlantic coast captured her heart, and she eventually made the seaside town of Viana do Castelo her home.
Isabel’s professional path reflects her strong interest in sustainable tourism and nature-based travel. She holds a degree in tourism from the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, a master’s degree from the University of Vigo, and a specialization in ecotourism and nature guiding from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She also completed guide training through Rewilding Europe’s LIFE WolFlux program, which focuses on the Iberian wolf, responsible wildlife observation and nature interpretation.
With years of experience guiding walking holidays and supporting international trip operations, Isabel brings careful attention to safety, logistics and the small details that make time in the field meaningful. She now leads trips across mainland Portugal, sharing the region's landscapes and cultural traditions.
Isabel lives in Alto Minho and also teaches at the university level. In her free time, she enjoys scouting new trails and spending time with the animals she has rescued at home, including goats, chickens, and other farm companions.
