Dana grew up along a canal in New York that flowed into the Atlantic Ocean, where she spent much of her childhood fishing and clamming with her father, a fisherman. Watching the ecosystem change over time, particularly after Hurricane Sandy when once-swimmable waters became polluted, ignited her interest in conservation, inspiring her to document the changing ecosystem around her through photography.

Dana earned a BFA in photography from Parsons School of Design, with a minor in environmental science. As a freelance photographer, she has worked with nonprofits in Botswana, Yellowstone, Haiti and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, using visual storytelling to document people, wildlife and conservation efforts. She also donates proceeds from her print sales to conservation projects.

Now living and traveling in her camper van, Dana spends extended periods in national parks and remote areas across North America, observing and photographing wildlife. Time in the field has deepened her knowledge of ecosystems, seasonal rhythms and conservation challenges while sharpening her understanding of animal behavior.

She enjoys sharing that knowledge with travelers, helping them slow down to notice details they might otherwise miss. As an Expedition Leader, Dana combines her experience in photography, visual storytelling and conservation with a belief that truly understanding a place begins with spending time immersed in it. When she isn’t guiding, Dana is usually hiking with her dogs, participating in beach cleanups, photographing wildlife or learning more about the environments and species she encounters.
