Though Harry grew up outside London, his Scottish heritage inspired an early love of the rugged Highlands. He first picked up a camera at age 12 and honed his skills on 35mm film; learning to develop his own photographs gave him a deep understanding of photographic principles that still influence his work today. He graduated from Manchester University with top honors in zoology—knowledge that enriches his approach to wildlife photography.

Harry’s work as a photographer and naturalist shares a common purpose: helping others see the connections among wildlife, people and the ecosystems they share. Reflecting his dedication to conservation, he coordinates a team of volunteers who assist when marine mammals become stranded or entangled. From observing golden eagles and deer to exploring coastal habitats, his priority is ensuring guests develop the confidence and skills to successfully photograph wildlife and wild places.

Harry has extensive guiding experience in the Scottish Highlands, including at the renowned Aigas Field Center, as well as in Canada, the Dolomites and Zimbabwe. In more than a decade of leading photography workshops, he has developed a calm, adaptable guiding style that prioritizes ethical wildlife encounters and clear photographic instruction. His kit is built around Canon cameras and a range of wide-angle and telephoto lenses, allowing him to shift quickly between landscapes, details, and long-range wildlife.

Harry is based on the Isle of Skye. When he isn’t in the field with guests, there’s a good chance he’s perched on an isolated hillside, continuing his quest to photograph golden eagles.
