Lets Kamogelo2017

Letsogile “Lets” Kamogelo was born and raised in eastern Botswana’s Tuli Block, an area so rich in nature that it shaped him early into an ardent naturalist and conservationist. Lets’ deep appreciation for the wild first took form in art class—his favorite subject in school—where he sketched wildlife scenes with remarkable detail. That same eye for beauty and storytelling later found its expression through photography, a skill he honed during years of exploration and guiding in the African wilderness.

Lets initially taught middle school art before shifting gears to study hospitality and tourism. He found his true calling in 2007 as a safari guide and has since become an accomplished private camp guide. His photography has earned wide recognition: in 2012, he won his first award and was published in Africa Geographic. His work has appeared on the cover of the Botswana tourism map and Peolwane, Air Botswana’s in-flight magazine.

Lets has presented his photography journey, “The Road Less Traveled,” at the Wildshots Wildlife Photographic Symposium in 2015 and 2017, inspiring fellow creatives with his story. In 2017, he was named a top-five finalist in the We Are Africa Awards under the Rise Africa category, honoring young changemakers in the travel industry.

An avid birder, Lets is also passionate about geology and Botswana’s cultural history, often weaving both into his guest experiences. When not in the bush or behind a lens, he enjoys researching global wilderness areas and spending time with his wife and two children. At the top of his bucket list is a trip to South America to discover its vibrant birdlife.

What Our Guests Say

If he wasn't so obviously happy in his job, Lets should become Botswana's ambassador to the United Nations! Not only was he a great tracker and guide, but he was also extremely knowledgeable and articulate about the flora, fauna, photography and African culture. I loved being shown this beautiful country by an extremely pleasant and knowledgeable guide.

Lets was a wonder. He was teaching constantly and seemed as fascinated by the wonders of Botswana as we were. He was always pointing out birds and animals with such infectious enthusiasm. It was a huge advantage to have the same leader all through our trip, as he knew what he had already taught us and what we had seen, so he was building on our knowledge base. Two bonuses: his wry sense of humor and his photographic skills (also giving tips on lighting and composition). We couldn't have asked for a better Expedition Leader.
B. Zitin
Lets is extremely knowledgeable and has an eagle eye when it comes to spotting wildlife. I couldn't believe how he was able to spot some of the animals we were able to observe. I also appreciated his teaching me some basic Setswana, so I could say good morning and thank the staff at the camps in their native language.
