Ante Pasalic2025
Ante was born and raised in Zagreb, Croatia, where he developed an early fascination with what lies beyond the horizon. That drive has led him across the Balkans on foot, in particular along the Via Dinarica, a long-distance hiking route that connects the Dinaric Alps through Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, and Kosovo.
Having spent more than a decade guiding trekkers through this dramatic and lesser-known part of Europe, he’s intimately familiar with the vast region, from Slovenia’s high karst ridges to the limestone wilderness of northern Albania. Blending rugged alpine adventure with deep local knowledge, he’s led immersive nature tours and also multiday treks, including hut-to-hut routes across national parks like Durmitor, Sutjeska, and Prokletije.
Beyond hiking, Ante is an accomplished snowboarder and certified mountain leader with a passion for ecology, traditional land use and the region’s complex political history. He holds a degree in cultural anthropology and speaks Croatian, English and basic Albanian.
His guiding style is defined by patience, preparedness and storytelling to draw connections between landscapes and the people who have shaped them. He frequently incorporates local myths, historical context and regional culinary traditions into his trips, so that guests come away with a rich understanding of the Balkans.
