Alex’s connection to East Africa runs three generations deep. He took his first steps in the Serengeti and was raised between rural Naivasha, Kenya,and Tanzania, while his mother worked as a wildlife filmmaker. Growing up among lion researchers, bush pilots, filmmakers and conservationists—including his godmother, renowned elephant researcher Cynthia Moss—shaped a lifelong devotion to the natural world.

Years of leading safaris have also honed Alex’s skills as a wildlife photographer. He knows which equipment to reach for, but more importantly, when to slow down and wait for a story to unfold—a philosophy that informs his approach to guiding as much as photography. His work has taken him across some of Africa’s most remarkable landscapes, with experience spanning mountain guiding, diving, horseback safaris, desert expeditions, wildlife rehabilitation and monitoring, safari camp management, community training and field operations.

A conservationist at heart, Alex is passionate about sustainable tourism and the role meaningful travel can play in protecting wild places. He believes the best safaris reveal a landscape as a living, interconnected system, helping guests see the relationships between predator and prey, people and wildlife, culture and climate. His approach combines storytelling, curiosity, and a strong sense of place with an equally important sense of humor.

When not on safari, Alex can usually be found riding horses or motorcycles, rock climbing, mountaineering, or scuba diving. He also has a particular fascination with snakes.
