Jartan’s affinity for nature began while herding cattle alongside migrating wildlife in northern Tanzania. As a Maasai who grew up in the Serengeti and Arusha regions, his deep-rooted connection to the land and its wildlife developed early and continues to shape his passion for sharing East Africa’s natural wonders and promoting conservation through guiding.

Jartan’s education began at Trust St. Patrick Schools, followed by a bachelor’s degree in wildlife tourism and hospitality from the College of African Wildlife Management in 2018. His studies included ecology, animal science, geography, history, wilderness skills and customer care, along with extensive field experience. Over time, he has developed into a highly skilled wildlife professional with deep expertise in animal behavior, regional ecosystems and conservation practices.

Since 2019, Jartan has guided travelers throughout Kenya and Tanzania, leading immersive wildlife experiences across some of East Africa’s most notable landscapes. His guiding approach focuses on creating meaningful connections between travelers, wildlife and local communities, delivering engaging and educational experiences that inspire a lasting appreciation for conservation.

Jartan enjoys spending time outdoors, including nature walks and hiking, as well as playing soccer, reading and watching movies.
