Our Story
Fabio Paschoal
Fabio was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where books, wildlife encyclopedias and nature documentaries fueled an early curiosity about the natural world. Films from National Geographic and the BBC introduced him to distant jungles and wildlife, inspiring him to study biology and seek opportunities to observe animals in their natural habitats.
Fabio eventually transitioned from biology to ecotourism, becoming a naturalist guide in the Pantanal and later leading expeditions in the Amazon Rainforest. Guiding allowed him to combine his interests in science, conservation and storytelling while sharing Brazil’s biodiversity with travelers from around the world.
Photography became part of Fabio’s career after his father gave him a superzoom camera. While working as a reporter and editor for National Geographic Brasil, he began exploring photography as a tool for conservation and developed his skills in light, composition and visual storytelling. A defining milestone came when WWF-Brasil licensed a collection of his wildlife photographs from the Pantanal and Cerrado. His photography was also honored at the Brasilia Photo Show in 2018 and 2019.
As a Nat Hab Expedition Leader, Fabio draws on his background in biology, guiding and photography to help guests observe wildlife more closely and create images that tell a story. He hopes travelers return home with compelling photographs and a deeper appreciation for the wildlife they encountered.
What's in My Camera Bag
I like to keep my camera bag light, often only traveling with just 2 lenses: a zoom and a wide-angle. This keeps my bag small, allowing it to easily fit below the seat of planes, thereby avoiding the risk of gate-checking expensive equipment.
