Balita Rasetriarivony2025
Born and raised in Antananarivo, Madagascar’s capital city, Balita grew up surrounded by the cultural and natural richness of the island nation he still proudly calls home. Early on, he developed a curiosity about people, place and nature—an interest that would later shape both his studies and career.
Balita attended Lycee Jules Ferry in Antananarivo before pursuing higher education at the University of Antananarivo. There, he earned a degree in communication, followed by graduate studies in tourism. His academic path was driven by a deep appreciation for social interaction and storytelling, as well as a desire to share Madagascar’s unique culture, landscapes and biodiversity with people from around the world while learning about other cultures in return.
In 2018, Balita began working as a guide for a local company, gaining hands-on experience in tourism and nature-based travel. Through this work, he strengthened his knowledge of Madagascar’s ecosystems and wildlife, building a strong foundation in visitor experience and conservation awareness.
His passion for nature was sparked during a trip with friends, when he encountered a Madagascar kingfisher for the first time. Struck by its vivid colors, he became fascinated by the island’s extraordinary fauna and flora and began studying the balance and harmony that exists among different species in the wild.
Outside of work, Balita enjoys spending time with his wife, an entomologist, learning about her work with insects. He also loves drawing and painting, creative pursuits that allow him to express his appreciation for nature in a different form.
