Our Story
Lemme Gust
Lemme was born in Ncojane, a village in southwestern Botswana, and raised in Maun near the Okavango Delta. During school holidays, he helped his brother tend the family’s livestock in the bush. Because lions, leopards, hyenas and jackals sometimes threatened their goats and cattle, his grandfather taught him to track animals and read signs in the landscape. Those early experiences shaped his respect for wildlife and the desert.
Lemme studied tourism and hospitality, adding introductory astronomy to his coursework after developing an interest in the night sky. He later supported conservation programs with BirdLife Botswana, camping in areas such as Lake Ngami and Moremi Game Reserve while conducting bird counts.
Since 2007, Lemme has guided across Botswana’s wilderness areas. A certified walking guide and tracker, he has worked in the Linyanti, Okavango Delta and Kalahari regions. Photography became part of his guiding career as a way to document wildlife encounters and share Africa’s landscapes, animals and conservation stories.
As a Photo Expedition Leader, Lemme combines tracking expertise with wildlife photography, helping travelers anticipate animal behavior, observe wildlife closely and create images with a strong sense of place. Whether photographing predators at first light, intimate animal behavior or the scale of Africa’s wilderness, he aims to spark curiosity and deepen appreciation for the natural world. His work has been featured by Tamron USA, and he also shares his photography through social media.
Outside of guiding and photography, Lemme enjoys birding and travel. His writing has appeared in The Explorer travel magazine.
