Freddy Avalos
Born and raised in Cusco, Peru, Freddy developed a deep appreciation for nature, history and culture while exploring the landscapes of his home region. Surrounded by the Andes and exposed to Peru’s ecological and cultural diversity, he became fascinated by wildlife, travel and the connections that bring people together across borders.
Freddy studied tourism in Cusco and expanded his knowledge through volunteer ranger work in Manu National Park and participation in expeditions alongside biologists, anthropologists and naturalist guides. These experiences provided firsthand insight into Peru’s wildlife, ecosystems and cultural traditions.
Over a career spanning more than 30 years as a guide, Freddy has led travelers throughout the Andes and Amazon. His work has taken him along remote Amazon rivers, ancient Inca trails and mountain routes while visiting Indigenous and rural communities across Peru. He enjoys helping travelers gain a deeper understanding of the country’s wildlife, landscapes and cultures through firsthand experiences.
Whether observing macaws in the Amazon or sharing a traveler’s first view of Machu Picchu, Freddy values opportunities to foster meaningful connections with the places and people that make Peru unique. He believes travel can encourage a greater understanding of nature, local cultures and different ways of life.
Today, Freddy lives in Lima with his wife and daughters. Outside of guiding, he enjoys learning about entrepreneurship, spirituality and the diverse cultures and environments found throughout Peru.
