Our Story

Rachel WalkerDirector of Content

Rachel discovered the joy of writing in third grade when she completed her first "book." That same year, she fell in love with reading. Combined with countless hours exploring the trails of Cheyenne Canyon near her Colorado Springs home with her family and dogs, those early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for nature, curiosity and storytelling.

As a teenager, an Outward Bound sea kayaking and sailing expedition along the coast of Maine deepened her love of the outdoors, while family road trips throughout the American West fueled her spirit of exploration. At Middlebury College, she double majored in French and Environmental Studies, studying abroad in both Paris and Madagascar.

After graduation, Rachel traveled through Turkey, Spain and France before launching her journalism career as an environmental reporter for the Jackson Hole News, covering Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks. She later reported for The Bulletin in Bend, Oregon, earned a Ted Scripps Fellowship in Environmental Journalism at the University of Colorado Boulder, edited Skiing magazine and wrote for publications including The Washington Post, Outside Online and AARP Magazine.

Today, Rachel leads the content marketing team at Natural Habitat Adventures, guiding content strategy across the company's marketing channels. She believes in the power of stories, images, video and testimonials to connect people to the natural world, deepen understanding through genuine experiences and inspire lasting conservation.
