Named for the surrounding pine trees that rise through the Monteverde cloud forest, Los Pinos Cabins & Gardens spreads across 20 acres of private reserve land between the Monteverde and Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserves. Established by a local Monteverde family in 1987, the property is threaded with stone paths, dense gardens, and forest trails that climb through misty hillsides toward lookout points above the canopy. Hummingbirds hover near flowering shrubs, butterflies flit through the gardens and clouds drift through the trees most mornings, giving the entire property the cool, damp atmosphere that defines this part of Costa Rica.

Cabins are positioned far apart from one another and built directly into the landscape, surrounded by native vegetation and towering trees. Interiors are warm and straightforward, with wood finishes, large windows facing the forest or gardens and enough space to settle in comfortably after long days exploring the reserves nearby. Separate living and dining areas, full kitchens and outdoor picnic tables make the accommodations feel more like private mountain cottages than hotel rooms.

There is no formal restaurant on-site, though guests can harvest vegetables and herbs from the hydroponic garden for meals back at their cabins. Nearby, find a cafe and restaurant. Sustainability remains central to Los Pinos through private forest preservation, water- and energy-conservation programs, environmentally responsible purchasing and active participation in Monteverde conservation and community initiatives.
