Anna Yu

Raised in California, Anna is an avid outdoor adventurer and wildlife photography enthusiast who guides trips in China and the U.S. National Parks. As a young person, Anna was inspired by the natural beauty of the West—exploring the Sierra Nevadas, climbing her heart out at Joshua Tree, and discovering the magic of tide pools along rocky West Coast shores. Family road trips to Colorado and Oregon were monumental in sparking her love of mountains. Anna moved cross-country to attend Rutgers University, where she became a student trip leader for the campus adventure recreation program. She went on to manage the program as the outdoor recreation specialist after graduating with degrees in psychology and criminal justice. It was here that she gained her wilderness expertise, and she credits this program for her professional development and personal transformation.

Travel is a huge part of Anna’s life. She has explored all over the U.S., seeking thrills in the outdoors however she could. Climbing mountains in the Rockies, kayaking the coasts of the Channel Islands, and thru-hiking various long trails around the country are among her fondest memories. In addition to personal endeavors, Anna has led many expeditions as an outdoor recreation professional and Wilderness First Responder in the Southwest canyonlands and mountains of the Northeast. Internationally, she has leadership experience in China, Tanzania, Kenya, Spain, Mexico and Canada.

Anna finds joy in all kinds of outdoor experiences, but she loves backpacking, ice climbing, kayaking and gardening the most. She is passionate and determined to make a difference by sharing her excitement about the natural world and educating Nat Hab guests in an immersive, experiential environment.
