Anouk N‘Guyen van Chinh

In addition to work as a naturalist guide for Nat Hab, Anouk is an interdisciplinary environmental scientist with a background in sustainable development, ecology, economics, and journalism. She was born  in a small town in Switzerland near the Jura mountains, joining a family of adventurers, travelers and naturalists. From the time she was a small child she has relished spending time outdoors, quickly developing a thirst for knowledge about her natural environs. After several jobs in the media sector and extensive travel across all seven continents, she returned to pursue graduate studies, pursuing a master's degree in sustainable development followed by a Ph.D. in environmental sciences at the University of Basel. Anouk loves to share her knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for conservation, both with students and with the guests she guides on nature adventures. Along with her work as an Expedition Leader, she has organized student field excursions in Spain and Switzerland, led nighttime walking safaris at an island resort in the Seychelles and is currently in training to become a certified hiking guide. When she's not out guiding, Anouk works as a lecturer, teaching coordinator and educational developer in the Department of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zurich (the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in Switzerland. Her personal interests include bird and wildlife watching, gardening, cooking, handicrafts, reading, writing, hiking, dancing, mindfulness, yoga and travel.

Upcoming Adventures with Anouk:
Wild Switzerland: Peaks, Lakes & Glaciers

Praise from Nat Hab travelers:

C. Gerson

"Anouk, Nina and Heather were amazing and added immeasurably to the trip. They all absolutely made the trip. They were well prepared with hiking poles in case anyone needed some on our hikes through Switzerland."

J. Sherwood
"Anouk, Nina and Heather were thoroughly knowledgeable about the country, geology, culture, fauna and flora of the area. Plus, they were attentive, friendly, funny and so well organized. This was my first Nat Hab trip, and I was so impressed by the Expedition Leaders."

K. Shea
"All the guides were amazing. Anouk and Nina were wonderful sources of information about Switzerland and did an excellent job."
