Day 1: Begin your journey to Brazil's wild Pantanal

  • Check in to a boutique hotel in Sao Paulo's leafy Jardins district

  • Join your Expedition Leader and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner

Day 2: Enter South America's greatest wildlife sanctuary

  • Reach remote Araras Ecolodge, your base in the northern Pantanal

  • Explore a UNESCO-listed wetland sheltering 10 million caiman and more than 100 mammals

  • Walk the lodge's nature trails for your first look at the Pantanal's biodiversity

Day 3: Track wildlife across the world's largest wetland

  • Walk the trails with your Expedition Leader and local guides who know this wildlife

  • Look for giant anteaters and capybaras among the region's threatened species

  • Set out on a night drive, watching for nocturnal wildlife near the lodge

Day 4: Search for jaguars in the Pantanal's premier wildlife region

  • Wake for a sunrise walk filled with birdsong and monkey calls

  • Look for caiman, anaconda, jabiru storks and macaws on a scenic drive to Porto Jofre

  • Set out in open skiffs to watch for jaguars along the Cuiaba River

  • Explore a private reserve set aside for conservation on a working cattle ranch

  • Set out on a private wildlife drive, watching for jaguars and other Pantanal wildlife

Days 8 to 9: Track wild jaguars with the Oncafari conservation team

  • Search for wild jaguars where the Oncafari project habituates them to safari vehicles

  • Explore the refuge with local guides and your Expedition Leader interpreting its wildlife

  • Study planets and constellations through telescopes during evening campfire astronomy programs

Day 10: Return to Sao Paulo after your Pantanal adventure

  • Wake to the calls of tinamous and parrots on a final Pantanal morning

  • Fly by private charter over the South Pantanal to Campo Grande

  • Gather for a farewell dinner in Sao Paulo

Day 11: Depart from Sao Paulo

  • Transfer to the Sao Paulo airport for homeward flights
