Nat Hab is unveiling major upgrades at our private Alaska Bear Camp with the introduction of 10 new en suite wooden cabins and an expanded timber-framed dining room and lounge for the 2026 season.

Set on a 15-acre private inholding within Lake Clark National Park, accessible only by bush plane or boat, Alaska Bear Camp provides accommodations exclusive for Nat Hab guests. Overlooking Chinitna Bay, one of the world’s best places to observe brown bears in their natural habitat, the camp now offers an elevated level of comfort, transforming the experience from high-end expedition tents to a deluxe wilderness stay with exceptional comfort and amenities.

“Alaska Bear Camp safely brings travelers face to face with brown bears in one of the planet’s best bear-viewing spots,” said Ben Bressler, Founder and CEO of Natural Habitat Adventures. “Our new cabins and lounge transform Bear Camp into a boutique ‘wilderness luxury’ experience, where you can literally spot bears from the comfort of your bed.”

Each new cabin features floor-to-ceiling picture windows with uninterrupted views of the bay and the bears that frequent its shores. Cabins have flush toilets, sinks with hot running water, propane heaters, and comfortable beds with heavy comforters and blankets. Hot showers are available in an adjacent bathhouse. Cabins also include electrical outlets for charging cameras and devices, which were previously available only in the main dining tent.

Also debuting in 2026 is a new timber-framed lounge and dining space featuring a glass wall and roll-up garage-style doors that open to a 16-foot deck with fire pits and patio seating, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor setting for meals and relaxing. Bear Camp guests enjoy chef-prepared meals made with locally sourced ingredients, including fresh-caught Alaskan salmon, while taking in dramatic scenery and bears roaming the tide flats.

Guests reach Bear Camp on a private chartered bush plane from Homer, crossing Cook Inlet and passing glaciers and volcanic peaks before landing on a remote beach where bears are often seen digging for clams. Guided by Nat Hab’s naturalist Expedition Leaders, guests spend their days quietly observing brown bears as they forage, roam, and nurture their cubs in one of Alaska’s most pristine wilderness settings. A private two-story viewing platform located behind the camp overlooks a vast meadow where bears graze on sedges, offering another exclusive vantage point for observing their daily routines.

The camp is featured on Nat Hab’s signature Alaska Bear Camp trip, as well as select itineraries of the Ultimate Alaska Wildlife Safari, which also includes Denali and Kenai Fjords national parks. Specialized Photo Expedition departures are available for both trips, led by expert wildlife photographers.
