It has been a little less than a year since WWF’s Mac Mirabile journeyed to Alaska’s Katmai National Park to witness the world’s greatest brown bear habitat. Since then he compiled some amazing footage to share his experience. First, we saw bear cubs wrestling.
Home is a funny word. Most of us have a home we wake up in every morning; we might linger in the warm sheets on those frosty mornings, relish the smell of freshly brewed coffee coming from the kitchen and chit chat to our loved ones about the workday ahead.
The world that I look out upon from the window in my home office, here in Wisconsin, is pretty quiet right now. In other times, the interstate just beyond the woods that surrounds my house would be busy with fast-moving cars and semitrucks. But presently, only occasionally does the sound of any traffic reach me.
This year I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Patagonia in Argentina and Chile. Both countries have stunning landscapes and beautiful wildlife. The many shades of blue from glacier-fed lakes, lagoons, and waterfalls will stay with me always. While in Patagonia, I visited one of the most beautiful natural structures – Glaciar Perito Moreno.
After a frenzied stretch in March with international borders unexpectedly closing like dominoes, all Nat Hab travelers around the world returned safely home, thanks to the heroic efforts of our operations team and especially our in-house air department. This narrative includes some of those stories, which give “adventure travel” a whole new meaning!
Our two-week adventure began as we met our guide, Mike Hillman, and our 12 traveling companions. As we drove, we got to know our newfound friends and our wonderful guide, who made sure we were safe and well taken care of.
