A strange, three-sided, metallic monolith was discovered in an undisclosed spot somewhere in Utah’s canyons during a helicopter survey of bighorn sheep on November 18, 2020. The Utah Department of Public Safety workers who found the object determined that the structure was 10 to 12 feet tall and planted firmly in the ground.

The first time I heard the expression “Eskimo roll,” I was standing on the deck of the M/V Sea Spirit, a small, polar-adapted, expedition ship that was my home for two weeks as I traveled around the southern coastline of Greenland, from Tasilaq on the west to Illuissat on the east.
We were zipping across Sermilik Fjord on an impossibly blue-sky day. I had convinced myself that it was going to rain every day that I was in Greenland, so this weather was an unexpected treat.
