Day 1: Arrive in tropical Cairns before exploring reef and rainforest

  • Check in to your hotel in the heart of laid-back Cairns

  • Join your Expedition Leader and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner

Day 2: The ancient Daintree and the world’s oldest living culture

  • Walk Mossman Gorge with an Indigenous guide, learning about bush foods and traditional plant use

  • Look for southern cassowaries on guided walks in the Daintree Rainforest

  • Set out after dark with your Expedition Leader in search of nocturnal rainforest wildlife

Day 3: Cruise crocodile waters before reaching the Atherton Tablelands

  • Cruise the Daintree River by silent solar boat, searching for abundant crocodiles

  • Tour Wildlife and Raptor Care Queensland, a rehabilitation center for birds of prey

  • Stand beneath the 500-year-old Curtain Fig Tree and its 49-foot aerial roots

Day 4: Search for rare mammals in the highland rainforest

  • Look for elusive tree kangaroos, platypus and pademelons
