Physical Requirements

At Nat Hab, we provide access to some of the most wondrous nature encounters the world has to offer. Many take place in destinations that are wild and remote, with varying physical demands and limited medical facilities. All trips may not be suitable for every traveler. In order to participate in this itinerary, travelers must comfortably and reliably be able to execute all physical requirements as noted below.

Walking & Terrain
  • Travelers must be able to hike 3 miles unassisted along a variety of terrain and should expect to walk a total of 2-4 miles per day

  • Hikes range from 1-4 miles each; travelers should expect 2-6 hours of physical activity on several days, except for the Tiger's Nest on Day 11

  • Terrain includes gravel, pavement and dirt paths, uneven ground with inclines, and many stairs while in Bhutan

  • Most hikes are at a leisurely pace with guided interpretation

  • For hikes longer than 3 miles, shorter alternatives may be available; longer hikes may be offered for more active travelers at some locations

  • The Tiger’s Nest hike is strenuous—6 miles round-trip with 3,000 feet of gain and about 1,500 stairs—requiring good balance and mobility; two rest points offer temple views without completing the full hike, and mules are available only for the first segment (200-lb weight limit)
