Day 1: Arrive in Nepal’s temple-filled capital for your Himalayan photo journey

  • Settle into Dwarika’s, a heritage hotel celebrating centuries of Newari craftsmanship

  • Explore Kathmandu beneath the distant Himalayan peaks

  • Join your Photo Expedition Leader and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner

Day 2: Photograph Himalayan peaks and Bhaktapur’s living heritage

  • Capture more than 20 Himalayan summits from the hilltop village of Dhulikhel

  • Explore the temples, palaces and courtyards of UNESCO-listed Bhaktapur Durbar Square

  • Photograph artisans creating woodcarvings, Thangka paintings and traditional pottery

Day 3: Journey to Chitwan’s wildlife-rich Terai lowlands

  • Fly to Nepal’s subtropical Terai and settle into a riverside safari lodge

  • Watch for one-horned rhinos, gharials and crocodiles along the Rapti River

  • Begin photographing wildlife from one of Chitwan’s prime safari locations

Days 4 to 5: Photograph rhinos and rare wildlife across Chitwan National Park

  • Capture images of one-horned rhinos, Asian elephants, sloth bears and other wildlife on 4x4 safaris

  • Refine your wildlife photography with your Photo Expedition Leader during the day’s best light

  • Photograph birds and mammals across tall grasslands, sal forest and riverine habitat

Day 6: Discover the Newari artistry of Patan Durbar Square

  • Frame ornate pagoda temples, carved windows and historic courtyards

  • Wander the UNESCO-listed palace square, renowned for its Newari architecture

  • Explore narrow streets lined with Hindu temples and Buddhist monasteries

Day 7: Enter Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon

  • Fly across the Himalaya into the Paro Valley

  • Photograph the 600-year-old iron chain bridge of Tachogang Lhakhang

  • Explore Thimphu Dzong, a center of government and monastic life

Day 8: Cross the Himalaya to Bhutan's Palace of Great Happiness

  • Capture Himalayan views from Dochula Pass among 108 chortens and prayer flags

  • Walk through rice paddies to Chimi Lhakhang, associated with Bhutan’s Divine Madman

  • Photograph Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Mo Chu and Po Chu rivers

Day 9: Photograph Himalayan birds above the Punakha Valley

  • Hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten for sweeping valley views

  • Explore Jigme Dorji National Park with a local naturalist

  • Visit 17th-century Gangtey Goemba Monastery overlooking the valley

Day 12: Practice Bhutanese archery in the Paro Valley

  • Travel through mountain landscapes on the return to Paro

  • Try Bhutan’s national sport at a local farmhouse

  • Learn how archery remains woven into festivals and community life

Day 13: Capture images of Tiger’s Nest above the Paro Valley

  • Frame Taktsang Monastery dramatically perched on a sheer cliff

  • Hike to a panoramic viewpoint or continue to the monastery

  • Learn the legend of Guru Rinpoche and the flying tigress

Day 14: Depart Bhutan after your Himalayan photo journey

  • Fly from Paro to Bangkok for onward international connections
