Our Story
Dave Briggs
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Dave developed his guiding skills in northern British Columbia, where his interest in mountain environments and wilderness travel grew into a career outdoors.
Dave earned a BA in geography from Western University in London, Ontario, with a focus on resource conservation. He has also completed extensive training in wilderness safety, first aid, marine operations, avalanche awareness, rescue techniques and outdoor leadership.
Early in his career, Dave led international expedition programs in Cameroon and Indonesia, guided multi-day sea kayaking trips along the Belize Barrier Reef and worked as a wilderness guide in Yukon and Alaska. He also held leadership roles in parks, conservation and outdoor education throughout Canada. He later specialized in Arctic travel, helping develop and lead remote wildlife and adventure expeditions while managing the logistical and environmental demands of working in northern regions.
Dave’s work and travels have taken him across the Canadian Arctic, Africa, Indonesia, Belize, New Zealand, Yukon and Alaska. He has worked in environments ranging from tropical coastlines to the High Arctic, guiding wildlife trips, sea kayaking and leading remote expeditions.
Dave is also an accomplished photographer. His images have appeared on the covers of Up Here and Conde Nast Traveller, and his videos of Arctic fox and snowy owl interactions have been featured by National Geographic Wild. He lives in Toronto with his wife and their husky-border collie.
