Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in the heart of colonial Quito

  • Meet your local representative upon arrival in Quito

  • Check in to a boutique hotel in Quito’s colonial quarter

Day 2: Explore the churches, plazas and flavors of colonial Quito

  • Tour the 16th-century Church and Convent of San Francisco

  • Step inside La Compania Church to see its gold-leaf interior

  • Taste rare Ecuadorian cacao chocolate paired with a cacao craft beer

Day 3: Board the Tip Top II and step ashore on Bachas Beach

  • Settle aboard the Tip Top II, your catamaran for the week

  • Snorkel off Bachas Beach, an important green sea turtle nesting site

  • Look for pink flamingos in the coastal lagoons

Day 4: Explore a flooded volcanic caldera alive with seabirds

  • Kayak Darwin Bay among nesting seabirds

  • Climb Prince Philip’s Steps past frigatebird and Nazca booby colonies

  • Snorkel from the beach with sea lions, rays and sea turtles

Day 5: Stay among wild giant tortoises at Nat Hab’s private highlands camp

  • Visit the tortoise-rearing center at Charles Darwin Research Station

  • Spend the night at Nat Hab’s private Tortoise Camp

  • Look for wild giant tortoises wandering through camp

Day 6: Explore lava caves before searching for Santa Fe land iguanas

  • Walk through lava tubes and caverns near Tortoise Camp

  • Look for endemic land iguanas beneath Santa Fe’s giant prickly pear cacti

  • Snorkel near a reef-ringed islet rich with marine life

Day 7: Flamingo lagoons, reef life and Floreana’s maritime history

  • Leave a postcard in the historic Post Office Barrel, established in 1793

  • Drift-snorkel Champion Islet among schooling fish and sea lions

  • Look for flamingos in Punta Cormorant’s brackish lagoon

Day 8: Waved albatross, blue-footed boobies and Gardner Bay’s marine life

  • Hike the headlands among blue-footed boobies and Galapagos hawks

  • Look for nesting waved albatross, found almost nowhere else on Earth

  • Snorkel Gardner Bay in search of rays, sea turtles and hammerhead sharks

Day 9: Sea lions, seabirds and the towering spires of Kicker Rock

  • Walk a white-sand beach among a large Galapagos sea lion colony

  • Cruise around Kicker Rock, rising 300 feet from the sea

  • Look for blue-footed boobies and nesting frigatebirds on Isla Lobos

Day 10: Search Black Turtle Cove before leaving the Galapagos

  • Travel by panga through the mangrove-lined waters of Black Turtle Cove

  • Watch for reef sharks, rays and sea turtles in the sheltered lagoon
