Itinerary
Day 1: Reach Victoria Falls from the Okavango Delta
Fly by scheduled charter to Kasane, then continue by private road transfer to Zimbabwe or Zambia
Settle into a boutique hotel near the falls or a riverfront camp within Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park
Watch for warthogs and impala on the grounds or hippos along the Zambezi River
Your Victoria Falls adventure begins with a scheduled charter flight from the Okavango Delta to Kasane, Botswana. You'll then head over the border via a private transfer by road to reach your accommodation for the next two nights. Two options are available: Choose a luxurious boutique hotel on the Zimbabwe side of the Zambezi Gorge, where Victoria Falls is accessible via a casual walk and your private veranda offers view of mist clouds rising from the cataract. From this location, you will tour the falls from the Zimbabwe. Or stay in Livingstone, Zambia, where your luxury camp overlooks the Zambezi River upriver from Victoria Falls, surrounded by Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, and view the falls from the Zambia side. In both locations wildlife is often on view, with warthogs and impala roaming the lawn and gardens of our Zimbabwe hotel, and boisterous hippos creating commotion along the riverbanks in front of our luxury camp in Zambia.
Day 2: Walk the rim of Victoria Falls and cruise the Zambezi at sunset
Follow rainforest trails to viewpoints above the mile-wide cataract
Watch the Zambezi plunge 350 feet into the gorge in clouds of spray
Cruise upstream at sunset, looking for hippos and elephants along the riverbanks
Today is focused on experiencing mighty Victoria Falls, the world's most astounding cataract, from varied vantage points on a guided walking tour. The falls are surrounded on both sides by two national parks, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Mosi-oa-Tunya in Zambia. The latter means "the smoke that thunders," and it's an apt name, as we often see huge clouds of spray billowing above the precipice of the falls, creating an iridescent mist that can be seen from 10 miles away. The profuse spray has created a rainforest microclimate on the rim, and a network of walkways weaves through it to varying viewpoints over the falls. The cataract spans more than a mile and plummets 350 feet into the rugged Zambezi Gorge below. Late this afternoon, get a different take on the river during a sunset cruise on a placid stretch of the Zambezi upstream, where we may see hippos and elephants on the banks.
Day 3: Depart Victoria Falls for homeward flights
Transfer privately to the airport in Victoria Falls or Livingstone
Your extension ends with a private transfer to the airport in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe or Livingstone, Zambia, to meet departing flights.
