Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Homer before your brown bear photo expedition

  • Travel by private charter from Anchorage to Homer on Kachemak Bay

  • Join your Photo Expedition Leader for a welcome dinner

Day 2: Photograph seabirds before flying to Nat Hab’s private Bear Camp

  • Cruise Kachemak Bay in search of sea otters, seals and sea lions

  • See puffins and kittiwakes at Gull Island’s seabird rookery

  • Fly by bush plane across Cook Inlet to a remote camp in prime brown bear habitat

Days 3 to 5: Capture images of coastal brown bears at close range in Lake Clark

  • Photograph North America’s largest land predators as they forage, rest and interact

  • Watch for mothers with cubs, mating behavior or bears fishing in salmon streams

  • Refine your techniques with seasoned bear naturalists and professional wildlife photographers

Day 6: Spend a final morning photographing Lake Clark’s brown bears

  • Photograph bears along the tidal flats, sedge meadows and salmon streams

  • Fly by bush plane back to Homer above Cook Inlet’s rugged shoreline

  • Explore the galleries, shops and working waterfront of the Homer Spit

Day 7: Depart Homer after your Alaska bear photo expedition

  • Transfer to the airport for homeward flights
