Day 1: Gather on Lake Victoria before your primate safari

  • Settle into a boutique hotel amid Entebbe’s lush tropical gardens

  • Search for rare shoebills on an optional canoe excursion through the Mabamba Bay wetlands

  • Join your Expedition Leader for a welcome dinner and preview of the safari ahead

Day 2: Fly to Nat Hab’s private Murchison Bush Camp for first access to the park

  • Enter Uganda’s largest national park, spanning nearly 1,500 square miles of the Albertine Rift Valley

  • Stay at an eight-tent camp set seasonally in a remote, wildlife-rich area

  • Head into the park before guests staying at outlying lodges

Day 3: Search for wildlife across savannas and papyrus wetlands

  • Look for Rothschild’s giraffes, elephants, lions and other wildlife on safari

  • Cruise privately through the Lake Albert Delta

  • Look for rare Albertine Rift endemic birds beneath the rainforest canopy

Days 8 to 9: Come face to face with wild mountain gorillas

  • Follow expert trackers through Bwindi’s UNESCO-listed rainforest

  • Spend time observing habituated gorilla families at close range

  • Learn how conservation and community partnerships are helping gorilla populations recover

Day 10: Cross into Rwanda beneath the Virunga volcanoes

  • Travel through villages and coffee plantations into Rwanda

  • Enter the montane forests and steep volcanic terrain of Volcanoes National Park

  • Stay at a boutique lodge minutes from the gorilla trekking headquarters

Days 11 to 12: Observe mountain gorillas in the forests of the Virunga Mountains

  • Follow expert trackers through the high-altitude forest

  • Spend a full hour with a habituated gorilla family

  • Walk in the footsteps of Dian Fossey’s pioneering gorilla research

Day 13: Track endangered golden monkeys before departing Rwanda

  • Search for golden monkeys moving through the forest canopy

  • Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial

  • Transfer to the airport for departing flights
