You can probably name quite a few plants: those in your garden, under your feet or on your plate at dinner. But there are a host of plants that elicit a double-take because they don't follow what we think of as the normal "rules" of being a plant. With our host, Nat Hab Expedition Leader and professional botanist Eleanor Edye, we'll look at some of the world's oddball plants and why they look and act the way they do. Learn the secrets of the potently putrid corpse flower and its unpredictable blooming cycle. Marvel at the moving mimosa, whose leaves respond visibly to touch and temperature. Discover the endangered Attenborough’s pitcher plant, a carnivorous plant known to capture and digest rodents and other small animals. And tap into the world of parasitic plants like the ghost pipe, a waxy-white, mushroom-like plant found on the forest floor that has no chlorophyll at all. Gain a greater appreciation of the plant kingdom as you learn some weird and wonderful facts of plant biology, how specialized habitats cause plant extinction, and how we can help save the world’s most unique plants.
