There were simply too many bear stories to cover in one webinar! Nat Hab Expedition Leader, bear fan and story collector Kristina Disney is back to finish where she left off. Bears have been a part of human stories since humans starting painting on walls. Dive into more myths and legends surrounding bears, and learn about cultures spanning the globe that have integrated bears into their worldview and ethos. The bears in these various stories can be the villain, the hero, the wise one, or the young and foolish (are we so fascinated with them because we see a spirit akin to our own?). We’ll look at the significance of bears in several cultures, then listen to a few stories from different settings around the world, starting with bears in South America, where Kristina left off last time. She will also touch on bears in pop culture and leave you asking, "What might be the bear stories of the future?" as you analyze your own perceptions of bears vis-à-vis those of other cultures. We’ll ponder the point that we have been sharing our space with bears literally for millennia—and while conflict has existed at points throughout time, can't we keep sharing?
