I'm ready to book my adventure. How do I do it?
Call an Adventure Specialist at 800-543-8917 to secure your spot. Our groups are small, and they often fill quickly.
We also offer online booking 24/7 for most adventures on our website. Just click the blue "Book Your Trip" button to select your departure. Then enter your contact information and credit card details, and reserve your space.
Is my trip departure guaranteed?
If you sign on for an adventure, you’re going! While other companies often cancel trips due to low enrollment, we guarantee we never will. Our "no cancellation policy" gives our travelers security and peace of mind.
On rare occasions outside our control, our suppliers, including ship and hotel operators, may cancel our accommodations. Should this occur, we will do everything we can to move you to a comparable trip, but we cannot guarantee we will be able to do so. Additionally, should traveler numbers on a specific departure fall below a certain number, some activities and services, including the size of vehicles and number of guides, may be altered to be more consistent with a smaller group.
We also reserve the right to cancel new "trial" trips designated as "Exploratory." Furthermore, we reserve the right to cancel or alter activities and excursions within a trip itinerary with little or no notice as a result of factors outside our control (e.g., inclement weather leading to safety concerns). In rare cases where a comparable activity or trip cannot be arranged, Nat Hab, at its sole discretion, may provide a trip credit. Please remember that this is adventure travel, and even the best-laid plans often must be fluid.
Once I make my deposit, what are the payment terms?
Final payments for most trips are due 120 days prior to departure. On a select few special departures and ship-based journeys, an alternate final payment policy may apply. Please consult the specific trip page on our website for details. Your invoice confirms the final balance due date for your adventure. In addition, we'll send a reminder email about 10 days prior to your payment due date.
Do you offer travel insurance?
We strongly suggest purchasing travel insurance, and we offer two Travel Protection Plans, both of which provide some of the most comprehensive benefits available. We even have a “Cancel for Any Reason” waiver. We believe insurance is very important when traveling to some of the world's most out-of-the-way destinations. The Natural Habitat Travel Protection Plan includes trip cancellation and interruption coverage and additional post-departure benefits. The Evacuation Plan provides emergency medical evacuation to the nearest medical facility while you are traveling, and medical evacuation insurance is required for all programs that operate outside of the continental U.S. and Churchill.
We think about insurance this way: You purchase insurance in the hope that you will never have to use it, but you’re glad you have it when you need it. That said, choosing a travel insurance policy is a personal decision that reflects the type of coverage you need and prefer. If you have any questions, please feel free to call your Adventure Specialist at 800-543-8917.
Where can I find more information about travel insurance, and whom can I talk with about it?
Travelers often have questions about insurance, especially regarding what is covered and what is not. Please click here to learn more about our Travel Protection Plan and Medical Evacuation Plan. Medical evacuation insurance is required for all programs that operate outside of the continental U.S. and Churchill.
We realize insurance can be a confusing topic, especially when you’re reading through the fine print in a policy. When you book travel protection with us, we can help you sort it out. Nat Hab does extensive research every year to make sure we continue to provide the best insurance coverage for our clients. Please contact your Adventure Specialist with questions at 800-543-8917.

What does Nat Hab’s partnership with World Wildlife Fund involve?
Because of our commitment to environmentally friendly travel and the exceptional quality of our worldwide adventures, World Wildlife Fund—the world's leading conservation organization—has selected Natural Habitat Adventures as its exclusive conservation travel partner, an alliance that began in 2003. When you travel with NHA and WWF, you become an integral force for change in addressing the planet's most pressing conservation challenges. Your tourism dollars help transform the future of at-risk natural places, and your presence becomes a powerful incentive for local communities to protect their natural resources.
With our decades of experience scouring the planet for the most captivating nature destinations, and WWF scientific expertise integrated into our planning process and guide training, we're able to utilize resources and insights not available to other tour companies. Natural Habitat Adventures has already donated more than $10 million to World Wildlife Fund and will continue to give 1 percent of gross sales plus $200,000 annually through 2028 in support of WWF’s mission to conserve nature and reduce the most pressing threats to the diversity of life on Earth.
How does my participation in a Nat Hab adventure benefit conservation?
Since 2003, Nat Hab has partnered with World Wildlife Fund, the world’s leading environmental organization, in pioneering conservation travel. These are life-transforming forays into the natural world that directly help protect wild habitats and the animals that live there. When you travel with Nat Hab, you join us as a force for conservation.
In addition to protecting nature, conservation travel has the power to benefit local communities and preserve cultural heritage—principles we view not only as our goal, but our responsibility. Nat Hab and our travelers have given more than $10 million to WWF’s global conservation efforts to protect some of the world's most precious and imperiled locations. Your tourism dollars flow to local communities that live with and steward nature, creating jobs and improving livelihoods. And you’ll go home not only moved by your experiences, but as an informed and enlightened ambassador for conservation.
You say your trips are carbon-neutral. What does this mean?
We know our guests care deeply about our planet, and so do we. In 2007, Natural Habitat Adventures became the world’s first carbon-neutral travel company. Since then, many other companies have followed our lead. When you travel with us, we offset 100 percent of the carbon emissions from your trip. This means we measure, minimize and offset the carbon emissions resulting from all on-trip activities, transportation and accommodations, as well as our office operations. Learn more about the carbon offset projects we're supporting around the world.
Do you offer trip extensions to see other highlights in the region of my adventure?
Yes! When you travel long distances for a major adventure, we know you often want to maximize your experience—and if you have time to extend your trip, we’ve crafted an enticing slate of add-on journeys for many of our destinations. Our trip extensions blend seamlessly with many of our itineraries, from extended encounters at archaeological sites to city tours and cultural experiences, as well as more of the world’s most exciting wildlife encounters—like whale watching in Mexico or gorilla trekking in the African rainforest. Contact your Adventure Specialist at 800-543-8917 for suggestions about extending your travel adventure.
I’m a single traveler—can you accommodate me? Do you match roommates?
We encourage single travelers to join our trips, and those who prefer a single room may secure one at a single room surcharge. See individual trip pages on our website for pricing details. In order to keep our single room surcharges as low as possible, on occasion single rooms may be smaller than regular double-occupancy rooms. Single room accommodations, however, are not available on all trips, and we cannot always guarantee single accommodations even after reservations and confirmations have been made.
For guests who wish to avoid the single room surcharge, we are happy to attempt a roommate match on our scheduled trips. We will do our best to find a same-sex roommate; and, if we cannot arrange a match, Nat Hab will not charge any single supplement fee. On all custom trips, 100 percent of the single room surcharge will always apply, as there is no opportunity to arrange a roommate match.
I need extra hotel nights at the beginning or end of my trip. Can you help?
Absolutely! Nat Hab’s travel desk can arrange lodging at our preferred accommodations in the places we operate, helping you get settled at either end of your adventure. Our staff is intimately familiar with the special requirements of each trip, and we’ll make your lodging extension seamless. Please call your Adventure Specialist at 800-543-8917 to initiate the process.
