Jessa WellsOperations Coordinator
Jessa was born in Keokuk, Iowa, and grew up moving throughout Minnesota, Nebraska and Texas. Her midwestern childhood had her outdoors much of the time, swimming in lakes, skiing, hiking and climbing trees. These early experiences fostered a lasting connection to nature and a curiosity about the world beyond her backyard.
Jessa earned a bachelor’s degree in natural resources and environmental studies from Texas State University, with a minor in International Studies. Her academic focus allowed her to combine environmental science with an interest in global cultures and systems, shaping both her professional path and travel interests.
After graduating, Jessa began her career in environmental education. She has worked at zoos, nature centers, outdoor schools, parks and a botanic garden, where her roles centered on teaching, program development and coordination. Across these positions, she focused on creating engaging educational experiences that connect people with the natural world.
Childhood trips to Florida lay the foundation for her first major international experience on a student group trip to Europe in ninth grade. While in college, she studied abroad in Spain and traveled extensively throughout Europe. She has since explored parts of Central America and the United States.
Jessa currently lives in Loveland, Colorado, with her husband and their red heeler, Ruby. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, reading, gardening and visiting friends and family across the country.
