Beth PayneNorth America Project Manager & Permit Specialist
Born and raised in Michigan, Beth spent her childhood in the countryside surrounded by the woods and the Great Lakes. A musty shelf of old National Geographic magazines at her grandparents’ house sparked her wanderlust, offering a window to the broader world she was determined to explore.
Beth began her career as a travel agent, dedicating a decade to the role before moving to the supplier side of the industry. She has specialized in adventure travel since 2018 and joined Natural Habitat Adventures in 2023.
Her top three travel experiences include the Galapagos for its intimate wildlife encounters—snorkeling with penguins was a highlight; Antarctica for its staggering scale—where a voluntary plunge into the Weddell Sea ended in a quick, shivering swim back to safety; and Patagonia for its surreal scenery and world-class hiking. Nat Hab’s Alaska Bear Camp also holds a special place in her heart. Many weeks spent there fostered a deep appreciation for Alaska’s brown bears and a keen awareness of the challenges they face.
Beth and her partner now live in Oregon, where they love having both the mountains and the ocean close by. She enjoys hiking, camping, baking, solving word puzzles and gardening—activities that keep her connected to nature and inspired by the world she helps others discover.
