Diogo Lucatelli
Diogo was born and raised in northeast Brazil, where he developed an interest and love for nature during early childhood adventures on the family's farm near Salvador da Bahia, his hometown. After graduating from university as a biologist, Diogo began working as a naturalist guide in the Pantanal in 2011, where he has been guiding ever since. He worked at Caiman Ecological Refuge from 2012 to 2016, moving up through positions from guide to biologist/tracker for the Oncafari Jaguar Project to finally become head guide. Today, Diogo guides throughout the Pantanal, Amazon and Cerrado biomes of Brazil. He also leads guide training for various lodges, with most of his focus at Caiman Ecological Refuge and Oncafari. To further improve his skills both as guide and trainer, he recently completed a naturalist guide course in South Africa. As an Expedition Leader for Nat Hab, Diogo believes his role is to inspire, educate and connect our guests with the natural world, always with the goal of pursuing the understanding and protection of the wilderness areas of South America.
