Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Madagascar's capital to begin the journey

  • Arrive in Tana, Madagascar's capital and largest city

  • Meet your Expedition Leader and companions over a welcome dinner

Day 2: Reach a remote rainforest reachable only by sea or foot

  • Fly by charter to Maroantsetra, then cross Antongil Bay by private boat

  • Reach Masoala National Park, Madagascar's largest conservation reserve

  • Set out on a first beach and forest walk, watching for wildlife

Days 3 to 5: Three days among lemurs in coastal rainforest and reef

  • Search for red-ruffed lemurs found only on the Masoala Peninsula

  • Snorkel or kayak the clear waters of Tampolo Marine Reserve

  • Visit Ambodiforaha village for a song and dance performance

Day 6: Sunset among thousand-year-old baobabs on the west coast

  • Fly by charter across the island to Morondava on the west coast

  • Watch sunset at the Avenue of the Baobabs, trees nearly a thousand years old

  • Learn how deforestation and climate change threaten the remaining baobabs

Day 7: Fishing village life and the coast's vital mangroves

  • Return to the baobabs at dawn for sunrise photographs

  • Meet local fishers and learn about their sustainable lifestyle

  • Explore the mangroves WWF has protected with communities since 2007

Day 8: Fly back to the capital for homeward connections

  • Fly by private charter back to Antananarivo

  • Transfer to the international airport for homeward flights
