Set at the foot of Jiajinshan in the heart of Baoxing Valley, the Red Army Guest House serves as a comfortable base for exploring one of the least-visited sections of the UNESCO-listed Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries. Named for the nearby route of the historic Long March, the modest guest house is surrounded by steep forested mountains, rushing streams and dense bamboo habitat where giant pandas, red pandas and moon bears still roam. Visitors come not for luxury, but for immediate access to one of China's wildest and most biologically rich landscapes.

Guest rooms are simple, clean and functional, with comfortable beds, private bathrooms, heating, Wi-Fi and large windows overlooking the surrounding mountains. Furnishings are straightforward, providing a welcoming place to rest after full days on the trails. Meals are served family-style in the guest house dining room and feature hearty regional Sichuan cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Dishes vary by season and often include fresh vegetables, stir-fried meats, handmade dumplings and steaming bowls of rice.

The guest house's greatest amenity is its location. Trails begin just beyond the property, leading into rarely visited forests threaded with clear streams, towering conifers, moss-covered trees and rhododendrons. The reserve is considered one of the strongest locations in China for observing wild red pandas and offers an exceptional chance—however never guaranteed—to encounter a wild giant panda in its natural habitat.
