Pantanal Jaguar Camp
Porto Jofre, Brazil
Owned and run by a local naturalist guide and conservationist who grew up on a ranch in the Pantanal, Jaguar Camp offers simple accommodations in an unparalleled location. For what this basic ecolodge may lack in fancy amenities, it more than makes up for with its unmatched proximity to jaguars in the heart of the Porto Jofre region. Located at the end of the Transpantaneira Highway, it is just a two-minute walk to the river from the lodge, your gateway to Brazil’s top jaguar safari zone and an area where we’re also likely to see giant river otters, capybaras, hyacinth macaws, capuchins and howler monkeys. Shaded by acuri palms, the lodge offers rustic yet comfortable accommodations in air-conditioned rooms with tile floors and en suite bathrooms with hot showers. Each room has its own veranda with hammock for relaxing. Solar-powered electricity is provided 24/7, and free Wi-Fi is also available in the communal area. The on-site restaurant offers locally sourced Pantanal cuisine, imported wines and traditional drinks.
