Finca Valentina
Location
Salta, Argentina
In the Andean foothills outside Salta, this family-run country house sits amid lawns, cactus gardens and fruit trees. The white colonial-style estate has shuttered windows, terracotta roof tiles and dark wood detailing. Woven light fixtures hang from high beamed ceilings, while a fireplace, white adobe walls, comfortable sofas, local textiles and handcrafted furnishings create a cozy atmosphere in the common areas.
Rooms are decorated in neutral tones, with wooden furniture and woven llama-wool textiles. Shuttered windows overlook the gardens or mountains, and doors open onto spacious tiled verandas with patio seating. Rooms have a queen or two twin beds, heated floors, a desk and Wi-Fi, while en suite bathrooms feature walk-in showers, concrete countertops and herbal toiletries.
Amid flowering gardens and mature trees, a large infinity pool with patio furniture overlooks the mountains. Meals served indoors or beneath pergolas include homemade pasta, quinoa risotto and locally sourced beef, accompanied by regional wines. Cooking classes introduce traditional empanadas salteñas. Guests can follow garden paths toward the river, borrow bicycles or watch for eagles, parrots, owls and tanagers. Sustainability initiatives include recycling, energy-efficient lighting, water conservation and fair-trade partnerships supporting local communities.
