Katie McGovernOperations Coordinator
Katie grew up in a small town in Massachusetts, where she spent summers surfing along the Maine coast, enjoying lake days in New Hampshire and exploring the forests near home. An early trip to Peru sparked a lasting interest in travel and cultural discovery, setting the stage for a life centered on exploration.
After her sophomore year of college, Katie took a gap year to travel solo through Southeast Asia and Australia. When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted international travel, she found herself unexpectedly stranded in Western Australia. While completing her college degree remotely, she supported her travels by working on vineyards and olive farms. The experience gave her an extended opportunity to explore Australia’s remote coastlines, desert landscapes and distinctive wildlife.
Following her return to Boston, Katie began her career in the travel industry. Her work eventually brought her back to the South Pacific, where she guided travelers throughout Australia and New Zealand. Along the way, she built a travel resume that spans multiple continents and a wide range of outdoor experiences. Among her most memorable adventures are scuba diving in Indonesia’s Komodo Islands, spotting a platypus in remote Queensland and completing 27 bungy jumps while working at the world’s first commercial bungy site in New Zealand.
Today, Katie lives in Colorado, where she continues to spend as much time outdoors as possible. When she is not traveling, she enjoys snowboarding, paddle boarding, camping and backpacking.
