Alex Bell-Johnson

The summer of 2021 took Alex back to Alaska, where he worked full-time as a sea kayak guide in Kenai Fjords National Park, paddling next to humpback whales and calving glaciers. The following winter, Alex took a one-year contract in Jackson, Wyoming, as a Teton Science Schools field instructor and wildlife guide. Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks have become Alex's favorite places to recreate and share with travelers. In 2023, Alex joined the Nat Hab team as an Expedition Leader in U.S. national parks and Alaska. He currently lives in Jackson, where you can find him two-stepping at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar or skiing in the Teton backcountry.

Alex is a very personable energetic leader with a broad background in outdoor activities, which he was happy to talk about and share. The sharing of personal experiences not only makes a leader more authentic, but it also builds a bond with travelers that makes the whole experience more fun and satisfying.

Alex is made for this job! He was extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, kind and patient at all times. He knew I wanted to hike a more challenging trail and took the time to help facilitate said hike. Alex would listen to all of our feedback with care. It was plain to see that it was a true joy for him to be there! Really cannot say enough great things about him.

Alex has a great personality and was able to explain concepts in a way that I could finally “get” them. He took excellent care of all of us, making sure all our needs were met.

Alex's job is very diverse and his knowledge base has to be extensive! I'd go on any trip he leads.
