Aurora Quest: To the European Arctic by Luxury Train or give us a call at 800-543-8917.
As dusk descends to wrap the snowy landscape in dreamy blue shadows, the Golden Eagle train streams north, bound for the Arctic Circle and beyond. Boreal forest and frozen lakes fade into the twilight. Inside our warm carriage, sip a vodka aperitif as we anticipate the polar night, glittering with stars. On a private rail journey from St. Petersburg, the storied capital of Imperial Russia, we cover nearly a thousand miles, disembarking near the top of Scandinavia and continuing to Kirkenes, Norway. Here at nearly 70 degrees north, a host of Nordic adventures awaits. Tour the famous Snowhotel, and spend an optional night in a room carved from ice. Go snowshoeing, ride in a dog sled and search for the northern lights. Crossing into Finland, discover traditional Sami culture on a wilderness adventure in Inari. You won’t find a more distinctive winter encounter with European nature!
