Question: What do Natural Habitat Adventures and globe-trotting foodie travel expert Andrew Zimmern have in common?

Well, speaking just for myself, I would NOT say it’s a shared taste for fish heads, pig’s ears and assorted fried, boiled or raw bugs. (Andrew is host of the Travel Channel’s popular “Bizarre Foods” show.)

However, Andrew and we at NatHab are equally enthusiastic about a life-changing organization called Global Explorers. Like Andrew, NatHab believes that travel is an important means of making the world a better, more compassionate place. And so does Global Explorers.

The mission of the educational non-profit is driven by a passion for sharing the most life-changing travel experiences available with young people. That’s why Andrew is spearheading a fundraising campaign to support Global Explorers, and Natural Habitat Adventures is giving away a polar bear expedition that all donors qualify for an opportunity to win.

Global Explorers teaches responsible global citizenship through four core elements: culture, service, leadership and science. Using travel as a vehicle to educate, Global Explorers is dedicated to providing experiences that help students grow into citizens of the world. The program inspires not only global awareness but also an awareness of self and the capacity each individual has to make a positive difference in the world, starting in their own communities.

Every dollar donated helps Global Explorers through providing life-transforming travel experiences to students. And every donor qualifies for a chance to win a polar bear expedition with Natural Habitat Adventures.

One lucky winner will receive a trip for two to the polar bear capital of the world: Churchill, Manitoba, Canada! The Classic Polar Bear Expedition has been Nat Hab’s most popular adventure for more than 20 years. The trip includes two tundra vehicle day trips and a night trip, with time spent exploring the subarctic outpost, all in the company of professional and experienced expedition leaders. This exciting expedition was featured in National Geographic Adventure in 2006 as one of the best adventure trips in the North.

A donation of any amount between Dec. 7 & 21 will automatically enter you in the drawing. Donate and enter here. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 pm ET on Dec. 21, 2011. More details about the sweepstakes are contained in the official rules.

If you’re reading Good Nature, chances are you already know how life-changing travel can be. Why not make a gift, during this season of giving, to help a young person discover the same rich awareness that travel has made possible in your life — and in so doing, to build bridges across cultures in a world so in need of peace and understanding.

Yours for the cause,

Wendy
