Elissa Poma is Deputy Director of Marketing & Communication for WWF. She previously served as manager of the WWF Membership Travel Program for seven years. In addition to her work at WWF, Elissa has been a freelance travel writer for The Washington Post, Budget Travel magazine, Africa Geographic and other U.S. and international publications. She previously worked at The Washington Post for 11 years and prior to that, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Dallas Morning News. Originally from Philadelphia, Elissa has a journalism degree from George Washington University and lives in Washington with her husband, Oscar, a native of Peru. Elissa has traveled throughout the world for WWF and is fluent in Spanish. On the side, she is an accomplished watercolorist and illustrator and also enjoys cooking, hiking and reading.
