Yesterday the Galapagos National Park Directorate released this spectacular nighttime footage of Wolf Volcano, which began erupting on May 25th.

The volcano, which last erupted 33 years ago, is on the northern tip of Isabela Island, the largest in the archipelago.

The nearest town, Puerto Vilamil, is 70 miles to the south and isn’t in any danger. The eruption isn’t expected to affect tourist activity in the area either. A few days ago we reported that the world’s only population of pink iguanas, which live on one of the volcano’s flanks, appear to be unharmed thus far.
