Tucked against a rocky bluff overlooking the plains and mountains, this private lodge is surrounded by 850,000 acres of protected wilderness, with Reteti Elephant Sanctuary a 10-minute walk away. The open-air communal area features polished concrete floors, stone detailing, woven pendant lights, hanging bells and upholstered sofas. Soaring thatched roofs and tree branch columns frame savanna views, including an elephant waterhole below.

Four standalone suites are set into the cliffside, with private thatched-roof terraces overlooking the Sarara Valley. Rooms have terracotta-colored walls, vaulted timber-beamed ceilings, desks and queen or double beds draped in mosquito netting. Wi-Fi is available in the common area. En suite facilities include a sink and toilet, while large outdoor showers built into the rocks overlook the valley. Showers are solar-heated and offer locally produced toiletries.

A private chef prepares meals highlighting Samburu culinary traditions, served at wooden tables overlooking the savanna. On the cliffside terrace, a lagoon-like infinity pool is built into the rock above an elephant waterhole, shaded by mature trees. Managed in partnership with the Samburu community, the lodge supports education, health care and elephant rehabilitation. Sustainability initiatives include off-grid solar power, gravity-fed filtered spring water and elimination of single-use plastics.
