Madikwe Game Reserve, South Africa

Located in northwest South Africa along the Botswana border, the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve stretches over 188,000 acres of bushveld and semi-arid Kalahari terrain. The reserve is a beacon of conservation, home to the famed “Super Seven”—the “Big Five” plus cheetah and endangered African wild dog. Since its establishment in 1991, Madikwe has successfully introduced more than 8,000 animals and 28 species. It is also home to more than 350 bird species.

The lodge features eight canvas tents and two spacious family tents, all draped in colorful textiles and furnished with plush couches. Every tent has a large mosaic tile tub, private open-air shower and en suite toilets and wash basins. Enjoy the comfort of radiant floor heating in winter or refreshing air conditioning during the hot summer months. Additional amenities include digital safe, environmentally friendly toiletries and a coffee and tea station. The main lounge and bar, adorned with cushioned sofas and chairs, are decorated in vibrant textiles, dark wood and copper accents, including a central copper fireplace. Meals are served on an open-air deck. The lodge has a shaded outdoor swimming pool surrounded by reclining lounge chairs.
