Within the stone walls of a restored 13th-century fortified estate, this hotel overlooks Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Doric temples rise among olive and almond trees. The hotel’s architectural highlight is a medieval watchtower once used to monitor the coast. Beneath the rustic timber beams of the wood-paneled lobby, seating areas with antique furniture, chandeliers, a collection of Sicilian artwork and tile floors overlaid with rugs offer a cozy space to gather.

Air-conditioned guest rooms feature frescoed ceilings, wood floors, a writing desk, and traditional Provencal furnishings. Windows are small but offer views of the Valley of the Temples. En suite bathrooms have walk-in showers tiled with stone or ceramic and citrus-scented bath products. Within the estate’s walls, sit at patio tables in the sprawling brick courtyard or relax beneath palm trees in the shadow of the medieval watchtower. A hot tub and sunbeds are tucked within the garden, which is planted with native prickly pear, agave and carob trees. In the evenings, the archaeology in the valley below is illuminated, creating a dramatic view from the restaurant.

Meals include Mediterranean sardines stuffed with citrus breadcrumbs, Sicilian beef carpaccio with capers, local seafood, and pistachio cheesecake. The extensive wine list emphasizes local wines. Served on a terrace overlooking the Valley of the Temples, breakfast features pistachio brioches, fresh pastries and coffee. The estate also produces its own organic olive oil, which is used in the restaurant.
