Emin Pasha Hotel
Location
Kampala, Uganda
Emin Pasha is Kampala's first luxury boutique hotel. Offering refined environs, sophisticated service and the romantic ambience of a bygone age, Emin Pasha provides a serene retreat before or after your safari. The hotel's name honors an exceptional character in Uganda's late 19th-century colonial history: Emin Pasha was a doctor, naturalist, linguist and explorer who sought not to conquer but to understand and learn, and in so doing, he fell in love with Uganda and worked tirelessly on behalf of its people.
Traditional touches that hark back to that era are intertwined throughout the architecture and decor and are complemented by contemporary amenities, for an aesthetic and comfortable stay. The 21 individually decorated guest rooms are designed with qualities inspired by the African landscape. Hardwood furniture, Egyptian cotton sheets, cast-iron soaking tubs and tropical "monsoon" showers are some of the highlights. Air conditioning, Wi-Fi and satellite TV are also included. The spa offers a range of treatments to promote a tranquil stay, while the large outdoor swimming pool and terrace set among leafy trees and flowering plants offers a perfect place to relax. At the Fez Brasserie and Wine Bar, choose from a variety of changing menu items drawing from African and Asian influences, as well as traditional continental options. Dine indoors or on the garden terrace under the stars. Emin Pasha is surrounded by two acres of lush tropical gardens, yet it's just a short distance from the heart of downtown Kampala, where you'll find the central business district, embassies and primary institutions.
