COMO Uma Paro
Location
Paro Valley, Bhutan
COMO Uma Paro is an intimate luxury retreat in Bhutan’s Paro Valley that blends contemporary comfort with traditional Bhutanese design amid a quiet, forested setting overlooking the Himalayan foothills. The main lodge features exposed timber beams, large windows and warm natural textures that reflect the surrounding landscape. Guests can relax in cozy lounge areas with fireplaces or unwind at the COMO Shambhala Retreat, which includes a light-filled yoga studio and a spa offering holistic treatments rooted in Asian traditions.
Guest rooms are designed for both comfort and authenticity, featuring hand-painted Bhutanese wall motifs and large windows that frame the pine forest. Each includes either a king or two twin beds with Italian linen, natural wood furnishings and a neutral palette that creates a calm, inviting atmosphere. Bathrooms are fitted with a combined shower and bathtub, COMO Shambhala bath amenities, soft towels and plush robes. Located near the main lodge, these rooms offer easy access to the property’s dining and wellness facilities.
The hotel’s signature restaurant, Bukhari, serves seasonal Bhutanese and international dishes with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Highlights include Bhutanese red rice risotto, flavored with mountain herbs and local cheese. Guests may also arrange for private dining or curated picnic experiences.
In September 2025, COMO Uma Paro earned EarthCheck Silver Certification, becoming one of the first properties in Bhutan to achieve this recognition. The certification reflects the hotel’s commitment to sustainable practices, including energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, community partnerships and responsible sourcing. The achievement underscores COMO Uma Paro’s ongoing effort to balance guest experience with environmental stewardship.
