The oldest part of the building dates to 1764, while newer sections feature facades inspired by traditional Icelandic townhouses with pitched roofs and painted exteriors. Inside, wood floors, leather seating, soft lighting and contemporary Nordic furniture create a warm, understated atmosphere. A glass-covered atrium fills the center of the hotel with natural light and offers a quiet place to read or relax. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Reykjavik Cathedral, the harbor, Lake Tjornin and the Settlement Exhibition, where Viking-era ruins remain preserved beneath the city streets.
